The Knotico boating experience is designed to reflect your personal preferences for your morning, afternoon or day on the water. Here are answers to a few of the common questions we hear.
Can I rent the boat and operator by the hour? Yes, the hourly rate starts at $150/hour. An additional fuel surcharge may apply depending on engine run time.
Are the tours private? Yes, aside from the Captain, the Knotico experience is a private affair for you and your guest(s).
Can we waterski from the boat? No…we do not tow anything. No skis, no wakeboards, no floating dragons….nothing. It’s not the type of experience we’re offering. (It’s an insurance thing.)
Can I bring my children? Yes, kids are welcome aboard. Please recognize that while underway, the law requires that all children 12 years and younger must wear a life jacket. Also, please note that while we provide a watchful eye while guests are swimming, we do not expressly provide lifeguard or child sitting services. All guests swim at their own risk.
Can I fish from the boat? Knotico is not a fishing boat. That said, we invite licensed anglers to bring their own rod and tackle and fish from the swimming platform at the stern of the boat only. Children under the age of 16 do not need a fishing license. The law prohibits fishing from September 30 – December 31st.
Is the boat handicap accessible? Individuals with mobility challenges will likely find it difficult getting onboard Knotico. Although we have taken elderly people for lovely lake cruises, recognize that boarding a boat from any dock has inherent risks. We take every measure to ensure everyone can safely board and become seated before we get underway.
What is the "fair weather guarantee"? Knotico promises our guests that they will receive a full refund should the trip get cancelled altogether by Knotico due to foul weather. New England is famous for rapidly changing weather conditions. If you are onboard while a storm moves into the Lakes Region, the captain (at his sole discretion) will decide if the conditions warrant a return to the dock. If your trip is cut short, we will issue a pro rated refund based on the initial cost minus the time spent on the water at $150/hour. In circumstances where the captain seeks shelter at a private dock, where guests temporarily leave the boat, the trip is considered to remain active and no pro rated refund will be issued; rather, at the discretion of Knotico, a discount coupon for future trips will be issued.
Are there towels on board? Yes. We provide all beach and swimming towels.
Are beverages provided? Knotico provides a variety of complementary beverages to its guests, although you may wish to bring your beverage of choice which we will be glad to keep cooled.
Is alcohol allowed on the boat? Yes. We are a BYOB operation. You are welcome to bring your drink of choice aboard, where there is plenty of space for beer, wine, mixers, food and ice.
May I cancel a reservation? Any reservation may be cancelled with 48 hours notice. Reservations cancelled within a 24 - 48 hour window from your scheduled departure are subject to forfeiture of your deposit. Cancellations made within 24 hours of your departure are subject to charge equal to 50% of the selected package price.
What happens if it rains? New England weather is known to change rapidly. Knotico will operate in light rain if the forecast suggests it is passing. In the event a weather system threatens the region, Knotico at its discretion will suspend operations. If Knotico cancels for any reason, guests receive a full refund of the package price.
Where do I catch the boat? Knotico operates from its Meredith, New Hampshire headquarters, where we have private guest parking less than two minute’s walk from the Meredith Town docks. Knotico is a 26’ long white boat with blue trim and a blue “Knotico” flag on the stern. We generally pick up passengers on the dock where there are pump stations and a large ship gangway. We also pick up passengers from private locations as well. We’ll confirm the pick-up location at the time you book the charter.
What should I bring aboard? We have pretty much everything you will need to safely enjoy life on Lake Winnipesaukee. That said, you are encouraged to bring: a sun hat, bathing suit, a casual cover-up, lip balm, SPF 35+ sun protection, soft-soled shoes or flip flops, and perhaps your favorite book. You may also bring a blue-tooth device to control the music.
Can I bring my pet? We love animals, dogs in particular….but sorry, pets are not allowed onboard Knotico.
What types of water activities do you provide? We have several snorkeling kits on board, as well as floating water mats, noodles, and on-board sun seats. We can also bring you to various island properties where you can enjoy an afternoon hike.
What does the captain do while we’re enjoying the water?
While you eat, drink, swim or lounge, if the captain isn’t busy keeping the boat in order, then he may read, write, swim or be playing host to you and your guests.
